Forage for Grey Cup

I have so many fond memories of Grey Cup!  Not the games themselves but the party, the food, the friends, and the pool for the game score.  In celebration of great food memories we’re offering some classic ‘retro’ appetizers along with some new things on our catering menu to help with your parties this weekend.

Off the catering menu we have a Cheese Log made with cream cheese and blue cheese and rolled in toasted pecans.  My Mom’s recipe says to serve with bacon dippers – remember them!  We have developed a Spinach Dip with Manuel Latruwe baguette for dipping and our Maple BBQ Chicken Wings are required game food.

Another classic was Pizza Buns – a mixture of cheddar, olives, green peppers, and tomato paste that you would spread on tray buns and bake.  These were one of my favorite things growing up and we’ll have the spread available this week.

We have also started to carry a couple sausages from VDG Salumi – Fennel Sausage and Sopressata.  It’s a new product made right here in Calgary and we love it.  Finally, you can round out the feast with Dancing Goats Farm Gavotte and Sylvan Star Gouda – a couple cheeses we always have in our cooler.

It doesn’t really matter if you are watching the game or not!  We’ve got everything you need to party for whatever reason you decide!

Here are the daily specials for the week of November 20th:

monday – chicken cacciatore

sunworks farm organic chicken simmered with wine, herbs, and mushrooms served with creamy polenta and balsamic winter greens  $18

tuesday – tourtiere shepherd’s pie

sunworks farm organic beef, sage, rosemary, thyme, carrots, peas, and green beans with cream cheese whipped potato top  $11  add a green salad with maple mustard vinaigrette  $6

wednesday – baked pesto penne

penne pasta, basil pesto cream sauce, spinach, mushrooms, zucchini and mozzarella  $10  lemon rosemary chicken skewer (2 oz.)  $5

thursday – bbq meatloaf

broek pork acres berkshire pork meatloaf with bbq glaze served with double baked cheddar chive potato, steamed carrots, and pan gravy  $17

friday – roast organic chicken

sunworks farm organic chicken served with buttermilk mashed potatoes and our famous gravy  $50 whole  $30 half  $16 quarter

roasted root vegetables add on $15 whole $10 half $6 quarter

saturday – waffles and ham & swiss quiche

crispy belgian waffle cooked to order, maple syrup, sylvan star butter  $7

polcan farmer’s sausage $3

warm sticky cinnamon roll  $3.75  at 11am – ham & swiss quiche  $11
