The snow has turned to rain (mostly), the trees are getting leaves, the grass is green, and the first sign of spring from Alberta farms is here – it’s asparagus season! If the promise of our short growing season has you excited, maybe it’s time to invest in the people who work so hard to get the most they can out of it. Join a CSA! It stands for Community Supported Agriculture and it’s simply shares or a subscription to the upcoming harvest. CSAs put money in the hands of farmers at the start of the season and secure a market for what they grow. As a supporter you get the best of the season every week and you can pick up your box of goods here at Forage. We have 2 CSAs that use us as a pick up spot – YYC Growers and Eagle Creek Farm. YYC Growers have a 26 week program that has already begun and is sold out but they have a 16 week program starting soon you can sign up for.
