for the week of march 16th

You’ve undoubtedly received many emails from businesses reassuring you that they have adjusted their practices in the face of CoVid-19.  Being a food service business many of these best practices are already in place but we have boosted our routine in the shop – frequent sanitizing of all surfaces, handles, the credit card machine and increased hand and utensil washing.  We want you to know we are doing a part to help prevent the spread of the virus.  Feel free to ask any questions you might have.

We are looking at some additional services we will offer as the situation develops and our first one is delivery to your car.  We’ve always offered this service but wanted to let everyone officially know.  If you are reducing your social interactions or if it’s best for you to not enter the shop, call us during operating hours and place an order.  We’ll take payment over the phone and bring your food out to your car when you arrive at Forage.  We are also considering a doorstep delivery service for meal supplies in the weeks ahead.  This is already typically a slower time of year for Forage so it’s incredibly important that we respond to keep supporting our community, staff, farmers, and producers.

It’s a week of celebrations with St. Patrick’s Day on Tuesday and Persian New Year on Thursday.  We’ve got a proper ‘Shepherd’s’ Pie made with Ewenique Farms lamb for Tuesday and Mint Chip Cake all week long.  Once again we’ll be making a Persian Beef Stew for Persian New Year on Thursday.  This is an incredible stew with a few simple ingredients that yield big flavour – Sunworks Farm organic beef, onions sautéed to a deep brown, toasted split yellow peas, a touch of nutmeg, tomato, turmeric, and dried lime.  The recipe and technique was handed down by one of my friends and she was taught by her Iranian mother-in-law – the best way to learn to cook!

Monday – BBQ Chicken
