Slow Food Calgary Kitchen Conversation
Our next Slow Food Calgary event is called a ‘Kitchen Conversation’ as we have set the intention of discussing some of the pertinent issues directly facing us in the months and years ahead. Bring your thinking caps as participants will be encouraged to contribute their thoughts, feelings and reactions to some of the difficulties coming down the pipe of the local Alberta food scene. The subject matter is serious but we also take our pleasure seriously! We will be tasting and comparing 3 red meats from the prairies – certified organic beef from Hoven Farms, bison from Buffalo Horn Ranch, and elk from Wapiti Ways. These animals all eat grass so it will be interesting to see how their tastes differ and why this is so. Wines provided by ‘The Organic Wine Connection’

One Litre Soups
For the next couple months we’ll be offering our Weekly Soup in one litre jars along with the usual 500 mL. These one litre jars will be $10. Stock up on soup! Get it, stock up!

Monday – Beef Rigatoni
Hoven Farm organic beef, penne pasta, tomato sauce, spinach, bechamel, and mozzarella $10
Tuesday – Chicken Burrito
Sunworks Farm organic chicken, tomato rice, peppers, beans, cheddar in a Tres Marias flour tortilla served with chipotle slaw $14
Wednesday – Veggie Wild Rice in Phyllo
Canada Goose Wild Rice, squash, spinach and kale in phyllo with roasted tomato sauce and saskatoon berry slaw $13
Thursday – Iranian Bison Stew
A traditional Iranian stew seasoned with dried limes, turmeric, cinnamon and tomato paste served with basmati rice and cucumber salad $13
Friday – Roast Organic Chicken
Sunworks Farm roast organic chicken served with buttermilk mashed potatoes and our famous gravy $40 whole $26 half $15 quarter
